Before I start sharing my views on about Indian Education let me tell you that there are over 300 government universities and about 45,000 colleges run by private organizations all over India. Thats a lot isnt it? Well such is the competition every one wants to get a diploma no matter what their interest it(more of this to follow)
The stats say that about 4 million new graduates get outta colleges every year most of them engineers, doctors, hotel management students and charted accountants. The surprising fact is that, India's literacy is only around 61% even after so many educational institutions. If we try to look into this we will get bitter results,in some parts of India girls aren't suppose to study now even now! how sick is that?
When it comes to boys, they are ill-treated all parents want children to do is feed them, more like a long term investment. They arent given a chance to showcase their talents, not all of the parents are like this though there are exceptions. Parents act like, their child should be an engineer or a doctor likewise children join universities to get their engineering degree and what happens? They cheat, they dont study, they dont show any interest in studies all they manage to get is an engineering degree after many attempts(people take 6 years for a 4 year degree). They get that degree but has that got any value, they wont answer a question after they complete their degree = no job after interviews! What if the parents give their children freedom to chose the field they are interested in?
I personally know people who are not interested in studies but has got of talent in playing a guitar,I also know an ace stunter! But honestly their talent is not at all utilized.Fortunately my parents are supportive enough, I am deeply interested in physics, machines, engines and thats what I chose to study. In my class room there are people who dunno what a engine is even after choosing to study about them!
For me, I am good at what I do, I dont know much about electronic circuits so I didnt chose it!No offence, but people question me repeatedly " why didnt you choose Electrical enginnering" would you ask me the same question?
Here people look after their grades, yeah I agree grades are important but grades are not everything, they might fetch you ranks but not jobs or more importantly knowledge! I am not telling that an A++ student hasn't got any knowledge all I am trying to say that is, a student who has got a vast knowledge about the subject can end up with a B (or) C grade just because he didnt the exact definition of a thing trust me it does happen in India! A person who has got a whole idea of the subject can under perform comparing to someone who has read only a few topics. In India especially in southern India knowing the questions which appear frequently in the question papers isn't rocket science!
Now talking about that, you can question me that the person who could answer only the important questions has GOT the knowledge, but there might a few topics which he didnt read about, in practical life if he gets to deal with those topics it would be a shame to refer to the books again! Even if he manages to get a job, eventually he will be fired just because of the above reason.
But in the end, you aren't studying for some one, pick the subject you wanna learn it might be any thing, dont pick an unfamiliar field just because it has got good jobs act according. Alright thats what I would say, its a good bye from me this time
